From romance author Lori Soard comes a delightful tale of three best friends and the trials and travails of thirtysomething life as chronicled in The Lipstick Diaries.
In grammar school, Kate, Sarah and Rebecca discovered they were best friends. In seventh grade, they discovered makeup and began a diary of their important moments, “signed” in their own shade of lipstick. In high school, they discovered boys. Now, the three are staring their thirtieth birthdays right in the face and determined to do something about where their lives are going.
From a mother who gripes about Kate’s unmarried state, to a sister marrying Mr. Wrong, to ticking biological clocks—the girls are tired of being seen as those almost-thirty-something singles. In a moment of dateless Friday night insanity, they vow to each find a husband. It’s a bizarre practical joke that none of them takes seriously until the stakes are raised even higher and they’re given the chance to save Kate’s sister from a disastrous marriage if they can just find the perfect man. If this man can pass a series of tests laid out in the diaries, then the wager is won and Kate’s sister is saved. But can any man live up to the strict qualifications of the lipstick diaries? The tests alone are enough to drive any man away.
In the end, one will find romance, one will find truth, and one will find herself. Their lives might never be the same, but their friendship will last a lifetime as will their tradition of writing in the lipstick diaries.

EXCERPT
“I can read the future.” Sarah waved her arms in front of her forehead. “I see a long trip in our future. I see a wedding. And I see a man. A man who is humiliated beyond belief.”
“Stop it.” Kate glared at her. “I don’t know if I can do it, Sarah. I don’t think I can sit quietly while she marries that man. When the minister says, ‘If there is anyone with just cause,’ I won’t be able to keep my mouth shut.”
“Kate, I want to go. Becca wants to go. This isn’t some stranger. This is your sister. Let’s just go back and face our demons.” Sarah grabbed Kate’s hands and squeezed them. “Becca needs to know she won’t always be deserted, I need to remind myself that I don’t have to be like everyone else to be happy, and you need to forgive yourself for not saving Jennifer when she was dating Billy. It will be therapy for all three of us.”
“And I’ll help you find a killer dress to wear,” Becca offered.
“We’d better get it here. Finding a killer dress in Greenfield, Indiana isn’t very likely,” Sarah said.
“Fine.” Kate gritted her teeth together so tightly her jaw ached. “I’ll go. I’ll put on my fake smile. I’ll pretend I don’t care.”
“Oh, honey, you misunderstand me.” A slow, sly smile lifted the corners of Sarah’s mouth. “We are going to stop this wedding, not attend it.”
Kate stared at Sarah for a moment. “I have to make my sister see reason, don’t I? That’s what you meant by ‘the rest of her life.’”
As the big sister, it was her responsibility to save Jen. She’d let her baby sister down once before—she couldn’t let her down a second time. Maybe her sister didn’t know all the rumors about Mark. Or perhaps he’d tricked her into thinking he was a changed man. If she could just talk to Jen face-to-face, then she could convince her to at least postpone the wedding. She had exactly ten days to get to Indiana and stop her sister from making the biggest mistake of her life.
